Support for you — wherever you are.

I’m Graham, a counsellor, hypnotherapist and founder of Brave Journeys. I help children, teenagers, parents and adults understand what’s going on beneath the anxiety, overwhelm, overthinking or feeling of being stuck, and find a way forward that feels right for them. There’s nothing fancy or overly clinical about what I do. Just real conversations, practical support and a safe, down-to-earth space where you can be yourself.

Brave Journeys offers counselling, hypnotherapy, life coaching and guided online support. You can work with me face-to-face from my practice in Ellon, Aberdeenshire, or online, wherever life happens to have taken you. Whether you’re a parent watching your child struggle with anxiety or school, a teenager who feels nobody quite understands, an adult whose mind simply won’t switch off, or you’re living away from home and would value support from someone who speaks your language and understands where you’ve come from — you’re welcome here.

You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You just need to be brave enough to take the next step.

Things can feel heavier than they need to

  • The weight builds quietly
Without the right support, emotions can feel heavier over time—leaving you feeling drained, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward and probably walking on eggshells at home or at work.

  • It affects more than just you
Stress, anxiety or emotional strain can impact relationships, work, and even your ability to rest and recharge.  With Children especially it can cause school refusal and never ending battles at home

  • It’s hard to speak up when you don’t feel safe
Too many people stay silent because therapy feels clinical, overwhelming or out of reach.

  • You don’t have to carry it alone
With the right support, things can feel lighter. There’s space to breathe, talk things through, and feel like yourself again—one step at a time.
The Brave Journeys Access for All Fund is dedicated to making mental health support more accessible by providing financial assistance for counseling services.
By offering funding to individuals who may not otherwise be able to afford therapy, the fund helps remove barriers to seeking professional help. This initiative allows more people to access vital counseling sessions, empowering them to improve their mental health and well-being.

  • Real support, not clinical coldness

This is a safe, non-judgmental space where you can show up just as you are—messy bits and all.

  • Someone who really gets it

You’ll work with someone who brings both lived experience and professional training.

  • In-person or online

In-person, online, or phone sessions—whatever works best for you.

How We Can Work Together

All services are available both in-person (North East Scotland) and online, so you can get the support you need—wherever you are.

  • Counselling

Safe, supportive space for emotional exploration. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, grief, low mood, overwhelm, or just feel a little lost, counselling offers a calm and non-judgmental space to explore what’s going on beneath the surface. Together, we’ll unpack thoughts and emotions at your pace, in a way that helps you feel seen, supported, and gently empowered to move forward.
  • Hypnotherapy & NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming)

Uncover patterns and create lasting change. Sometimes we carry unconscious beliefs or behaviours that hold us back. Hypnotherapy and NLP work on a deeper level to gently reframe these patterns and open up space for clarity, healing, and change. These techniques are especially helpful for anxiety, phobias, self-esteem, and confidence issues.

    Online Counselling or Hypnotherapy

Online Therapy should never be seen as a second-best option to sitting in the same room as your therapist. It is a valid and effective way of accessing support, and for many people it can actually feel more comfortable, accessible and easier to fit around everyday life.  I’m an accredited online therapist and work with clients, locally, nationally and internationally online,  and I’ve seen first-hand that meaningful therapeutic relationships can absolutely be built through a screen. The important thing isn’t always where the conversation happens, but whether you feel heard, understood, safe and supported.

    Life Coaching

Clarity, direction, and support to move forward. Coaching sessions are ideal if you’re looking to set goals, gain confidence, or navigate a new chapter in life. With a blend of empathy and action, we’ll clarify where you are, where you want to go, and how to get there—step by step, without the overwhelm.
  • Brave Guided Journeys(Subscription)

Brave Guided Journeys are designed to give you the space, guidance and practical tools to work on yourself at your own pace. They bring together therapeutic insight, reflection, exercises and guided practices to help you understand what you’re feeling, recognise the patterns that may be holding you back and begin making positive changes.
These aren’t about simply watching a few videos and hoping things change. They are about taking an active part in your own journey, with structure and support to help you move forward.
Whether you’re working on your confidence, emotional awareness, stress, self-esteem or simply wanting to understand yourself better, there is a Brave Guided Journey to help you take that next step.
  • EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques)

Release emotional tension and restore balance. EFT combines gentle physical tapping on pressure points with spoken affirmations to help reduce stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm. It’s a simple yet powerful tool to calm the nervous system and shift how we feel in our body, often bringing immediate relief and clarity.

I’m Graham. I’m a therapist, but I’m also just a human being.

I know what it’s like when life feels heavy. The battles nobody else sees, the overthinking, the uncertainty and those times when you know something needs to change but you’ve absolutely no idea where to start.

I don’t come at therapy as some distant expert who has life all figured out. I haven’t. I bring my professional experience, but I also bring my own lived experience of life being difficult, complicated, brilliant, painful and sometimes pretty messy.

That’s a big part of how I work.

I’m not a fancy therapist. I’m just a Graham.

I’ll walk alongside you, not in front of you telling you where to go, and not behind you waiting for you to work it all out yourself. We’ll figure things out together, at your pace and in a way that works for you.

Over the years I’ve supported children, teenagers, adults, parents and families through anxiety, overwhelm, loss, school struggles, low confidence, overthinking and those periods of life when everything just feels a bit too much.

Sometimes that support happens face-to-face in my office in Ellon. Increasingly, it happens online, allowing me to work with people wherever life happens to have taken them.

You don’t need to know exactly what you need before getting in touch. You don’t need the right words and you certainly don’t need to have everything figured out.

We can start with a conversation.

A chance to talk about what’s happening, what you’d like to be different and whether I might be the right person to walk alongside you or your child.

Sometimes the first brave step really is just having someone there when you take it.

Getting our teenager to engage with anything like this wasn’t easy, but somehow it worked. She felt listened to, not judged, and that made all the difference. We’ve noticed she is coping better and opening up more at home.” Thank you for helping us have conversations and hear each other.

I can not recommend Graham enough. My daughter was struggling with anxiety, the GP just gave her medication without even seeing her. She couldn’t go to school and even struggled out with her friends. She spent 1 hour on a walk and talk with Graham and she’s a lot happier. She came off her prescription medicine and started multivitamins with iron and is now back at school full time. Thank you so much for your words of wisdom, whatever you said to her has helped her feel more like her old self.

“I would highly recommend Brave Journeys. I met Graham at a time when, for various reasons, I felt incredibly lost, worthless and without purpose. Through conversation and techniques Graham has helped me work on what I want and who I am. Graham is a genuine and kind therapist, who is very comfortable to be with. 10 minutes of hypnotherapy makes me feel like I’ve had a day at a spa!”

“I couldn’t recommend Graham enough, his friendly, honest approach really put my daughter at ease. After the initial consultation she was left feeling very confident that Graham’s approach to her severe phobia (wasps) would give her a much better quality of life. Only regret is that we didn’t learn about Brave Journey’s earlier!”
